From the Gospel of Luke
A man walked alone down the long, dusty road through the rocky hills.
Robbers jumped out! They took everything and left him hurt on the ground.
A priest came by. He saw the hurt man. But he crossed to the other side of the road and walked on.
Another man came. He looked — then stepped around him. He kept walking, eyes averted.
The sun climbed. The sun fell. The hurt man lay alone, and no one came.
Then a Samaritan came. When he saw the hurt man — he stopped. His heart was moved. He got down to help.
He poured oil on the wounds and wrapped them carefully. He was gentle with every bandage.
He lifted the man onto his own donkey and led him along the road toward an inn.
At the inn, he paid the innkeeper. "Look after him. Whatever more you spend, I will pay you back."
Day by day, in the safe room, the man grew stronger. The kindness he had been shown was healing him from the inside out.
“Go and do likewise.”
